Broadacre Cropping in Queensland

Broadacre cropping in Queensland is conducted on around 2.4 million ha by 6,500 agricultural businesses. In 2017-18 the gross value of broadacre cropping in Queensland was around $3.3 billion (of which $2.2 billion was from irrigated production) .

The most widely grown broadacre crops are cereals (predominantly wheat and grain sorghum), cotton, sugarcane and pulses (primarily chickpeas and mungbeans). The detail for crops grown in 2017-18 are summarised in the table below.
